Current began 52 years ago in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Actually, Current got its start in the basement of the home of founders Orin and Miriam Loo. An artist and lithographer, Orin had opened a printing business called Looart Press, three years earlier. Then in 1950, his wife, Miriam, had the idea of offering a line of paper products to non-profit groups to use in fund-raising activities. Together, the family printed greeting, Christmas, and recipe cards right in their home, and orders were fulfilled out of their basement for delivery. As this new business expanded, Miriam started thinking about a company name that would always be in step with the times. Thus "Current" was born. In 1967, Current and Looart Press merged. Their company remained privately held for 20 years, when it was purchased by Deluxe Corporation, and later by Taylor Corporation who evolved the brand to what is know today as Current Labels.
